UK retail sales jump in the June heat as online shopping hits a five-year high

British retail sales volumes rose 1.0% in June and were up 4.2% on a year earlier, as the second-warmest June on record sent shoppers after fans and paddling pools.
Online shopping did especially well: internet sales climbed 14.4% year on year and reached 29.4% of all spending, the highest share since April 2021.
