Gold jumps to its highest since early June as the Treasury doubles bond buybacks
- Gold leapt roughly $100 in under an hour on Wednesday, trading above $4,460 an ounce for the first time since early June, after the US Treasury said it would double the size of its long-dated bond buyback operations to at least $4 billion each.
- The 30-year Treasury yield fell to 5.19%, a two-week low, easing the pressure that had weighed on the metal.
