Britain Extends the Life of Sizewell B Nuclear Plant to 2055
- The UK government and EDF have agreed to keep the Sizewell B nuclear plant running for an extra 20 years, to 2055 instead of 2035, backed by an £800 million refurbishment.
- Extending an existing reactor is a far cheaper way to secure low-carbon power than building a new one, and it locks in a fixed price for a slice of Britain's electricity.
