- Walmart beat Wall Street on revenue and earnings and still lost about 9% of its market value, because the one number investors care most about, US same-store sales, grew 2.6% against expectations of 3.8%.
- The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 703.84 points lower at 52,759.21 as the retailer's warning about cautious shoppers met a fresh rise in Treasury yields.
