Washington puts 50% tariffs on $20 billion of Canadian goods, four days after pausing them
- The duties took effect on Saturday on plywood, alcoholic drinks, electrical equipment and hockey gear, after three days of talks collapsed.
- Crude oil, potash and critical minerals are exempt.
- Boursel reported on Wednesday that the same tariffs had been paused as the two sides closed in on a deal; that is no longer the case, and this is what changed.
