Venezuela is weighing the end of the bolivar. Dollarization fixes one problem and locks in another
- Steve Hanke of Johns Hopkins, now a special adviser to Venezuela's National Assembly, is proposing that the country abandon the bolivar for the US dollar, and puts the odds of approval at 50% to 80%.
- Inflation is running in the hundreds of percent and the currency has lost 78% against the dollar in a year.
