EasyJet's profit falls 70% as the oil shock drives up its fuel bill
- The budget airline easyJet reported headline pre-tax profit of £85 million for the quarter to June, down from £286 million a year earlier, a 70% fall.
- Revenue actually rose 2% to £2.98 billion.
- The gap is almost entirely fuel: its bill jumped £105 million as the Middle East conflict pushed oil prices up and softened demand.
